Bluey’s Happy Snaps Turns Photography into a Family Game
Bluey’s Happy Snaps is a family video game about virtual photography that introduces children to photography through games, activities and beloved characters.
Bluey and Bingo photograph familiar places and animals, collecting stickers in an album; voice-over helps children, and the activities encourage them to take photos outside the game too. The game launches on October 15 for consoles and PC.
Bluey’s Happy Snaps Turns Photography into a Game for the Whole Family
The video game Bluey’s Happy Snaps brings together the world of the animated series Bluey, playful activities and virtual photography. It is aimed primarily at preschool and early elementary school children who know the show’s characters, but may also appeal to adults who want to share their interest in photography with a child.
At the heart of the adventure are Bluey and her younger sister Bingo. They take their dad’s old camera, which looks like a Polaroid camera, and set off to photograph familiar games and the animals they encounter along the way. Players explore locations from the animated series, and turn their best shots into pages in an interactive album.
Nintendo describes the game as an adventure where players can visit familiar locations, play with a variety of toys and chase mischievous ibises—birds known in Australia as bin chickens. Bluey and Bingo’s friends join them on their journey, which revolves around outings and games.

How Virtual Photography Works
According to Nintendo Life journalist Ollie Reynolds, the main task is simple: photograph the required objects and living creatures. The game begins at the Heeler family home. Players earn stickers for taking the right shots; once they have collected at least 15, they can move on to the next location.
Developer Gameloft has provided voice-over for every menu item. Bandit and Chilli are voiced by the actors who play them in the series. This helps children who are not yet confident readers understand the controls and activities. Nintendo Life rated Bluey’s Happy Snaps 8 out of 10.

Alongside the virtual adventures, the game includes For Real Life activities designed to encourage children to keep playing away from the screen. They can be a reason to pick up a real camera and try photographing the world around them.
When the Game Comes Out
Bluey’s Happy Snaps goes on sale on Thursday, October 15. Versions for Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S will cost $39.99. The Windows PC version will be available on Steam and the Epic Games Store.
The game may suit photographers who want to introduce children to their hobby through familiar characters and playful activities. Visual materials provided by Nintendo and Gameloft.
