Brünnich's Guillemots, often mistaken for their southern relatives, on a drifting ice floe in Hinlopen Strait beneath the towering Alkefjellet Bird Cliffs. With their tuxedo-like plumage and upright stance, they certainly give off a penguin-like vibe—but these agile seabirds are built for the Arctic, thriving in the icy waters of Svalbard.
Perhaps they’re having a morning meeting, deciding who will take the next daring plunge into the freezing sea. Or maybe one is just delivering an impassioned speech—because every floating iceberg needs a leader!
