How points are scored
- Exposure 25
- Aperture, shutter speed and ISO against the light of the scene. Within ⅓ EV is full marks.
- Sharpness 25
- Focus on the subject, motion blur for the task (freeze or show speed) and camera shake without a tripod.
- Depth of field 15
- A blurred background for portraits and birds, everything sharp for landscapes.
- Composition 25
- How well the subject fills the frame, the rule of thirds, space ahead of the subject or the horizon on a third.
- Noise 10
- ISO 100–200 is clean, higher ISO costs points.
- Speed +10
- The faster you shoot, the bigger the bonus. When time runs out, the camera fires by itself.
